Strong currents can be found at several dive and snorkeling sites and care should be taken in relation to tides and sea conditions. When diving your guides should advise you of any strong currents or surges you may encounter during your dive. Make sure to stay close to your buddy and your dive guide, if you should get separated follow the lost buddy procedures given in your dive briefing. Always carry a Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) and inflate it on your ascent, to alert the boat of your position.
When snorkeling with a guide, they will advise of any adverse condition, stay close to the guide and follow instructions. If snorkeling on your own, pay close attention to the strength and direction of any currents or tides. It is recommended to ask your hotel or guest house for advice before embarking on your snorkeling trip.
